# EcoMap Resource Typology

## Overview of Discover's Resources Types

| **Compliance** | Essential guidance, legal frameworks, and regulatory requirements to ensure organizations operate within industry standards. |
| --- | --- |
| **Development Programs** | Structured cohorts or curriculum-based initiatives, such as accelerators,  workshops or degree programs, aimed at skill-building and scaling. |
| **Event** | Time-bound gatherings, webinars, or conferences that facilitate networking, learning, and ecosystem visibility. |
| **Financial Resources** | Access to capital, including grants, loans, venture funding, and tax incentives designed to fuel organizational growth. |
| **Groups** | Membership-based associations or informal collectives centered around a shared industry, demographic, or mission. |
| **Information** | Static or curated knowledge assets, such as research papers, whitepapers, and evergreen guides for general learning. |
| **News** | Real-time updates, press releases, and announcements regarding the latest happenings and breakthroughs in the ecosystem. |
| **Professional Services** | B2B or B2C expert support, including legal, accounting, marketing, and technical consulting required for business operations. (typically paid) |
| **Service Providers** | Specialized vendors and contractors offering specific tools or operational support to the community. |
| **Spaces** | Physical or virtual locations, such as co-working hubs, labs, or meeting rooms, where ecosystem members work and collaborate. |
| **Support Organizations** | Mission-driven entities—often non-profits or government agencies—dedicated to assisting specific founder or member groups. |
| **Ventures** | High-growth companies, startups, or specific business projects that are active participants in the economic landscape. |

Understanding the Resource Typology is helpful in building Collections---as the resource types can be used to filter your data library in addition to plaintext searching. (For example: if you are trying to build a Collection of SBDCs in Baltimore, you could search "SBDC" and also apply the "Support Organizations" resource type filter.)
