EcoMap Glossary 🗒️

This is the glossary of terms you may find us referencing in the platform and this Knowledge Base.

Assets: The term we use for Platform Data (Organizations, Resources). You may hear us also refer to Secondary Assets which are individual Events, Jobs, or News.

Auto-Updates: Data that originates from EcoMap can be set to Auto-Update with periodic pushdown based on changes detected on the web. Note: user-created Data is not eligible for Auto-Updates.

Claim: End Users can "apply" to take ownership of Organizations or Resources in order to update the description, keywords, etc associated with that Asset. Claim requests require proof and go through an approval process by platform Admins. Once approved, the asset in question is considered "Claimed."

Compilation: The part of our Data process in which the platform's data is selected based on the needs of the ecosystem/customer.

Data: The Organizations, Resources, Events, Jobs, and News which are offered to end users via platform directories.

Data Plan: This is a questionnaire currently completed in Google Sheets to get clients to document and sign off on what data they want us to compile for their EcoMap.

EcoMap School or Academy: Training videos providing guidance for Admins.

Excluding: Refers to excluding fields or entire Assets from being updated by our systems (see Auto-Updates)

Filters: Filters are a search component of the directory pages which are dependent on Keywords tagged on assets. Admins have the ability to customize the filters on their directory pages. When a Keyword within a Filter is selected, only the Assets with that Keyword tagged will remain.

Guides: Articles you can use to explain a process or give an overview on a topic with the ability to integrate checklists and Assets in your Ecosystem.

Hero Image: Primary Home Page image.

Highlighted Asset: Admins have the ability to Highlight or Feature assets on the platforms-- this gives them a special badge as well as makes them eligible to display in a Featured content block on the home/about/navigate pages

Keyword: an informative word used in an information retrieval system to indicate the content of a document. Typically, EcoMap keywords assets according to what the asset IS and who it SERVES.

Lists: Compilation of assets that serve a variety of purposes. Use Lists as a way to save content for later or use Lists to share recommendations with a colleague or your audience. They can be private, semi-private, or public.

Onboarding Form: "Onboarding" refers to any time you add data to the platform and anywhere you can add data there's an associated form to help connect Keywords to the User or Asset being onboarded.

Pathways: A Feature which allows for the customization of End User journeys through Guide content.

Platform: An EcoMap.

Search Suggestions: Keywords that appear on Directory Pages that help prompt End User searches for topics you believe are of most interest.

Starting Data: Many clients have spreadsheets of data they've been manually compiling for years. We ask that you provide this during implementation and we call it your "Starting Data" that we can help you build from with our data compilation process to get you to a complete mapping of your Ecosystem.

SubMap: SubMaps allow you to create specific hubs for your users. They are essentially mini-EcoMaps within your main platform, made of a collection of Pages.

User Dashboard: A user specific platform page for profiled-users that houses both recommendations as well as the user's platform contributions (added/claimed orgs, resources, etc).

Verified User: A platform End User who's access has been reviewed and approved by a platform Admin.
